Lesser Antilles Iguana

A fascinating feature of this reptile is its ability to change colour. Dominant males will turn from green to dark grey and in the mating season their jowls will flush pink and the scales on the sides of their face will turn pale blue.

Males also have enlarged scales along their backs and spikes on the dewlap – the loose fold of skin at the throat. The most dominant male in a locality is a darker grey than the rest.

I agree with insanegelfling on this one, but like you say, everyone is different. I do love this though, it is so dramatic. And I instantly recognised this lizard ;)

He usually bops his head up and down at me and then pounces at the window if I have my lens on him for too long.

Stunning lizards. Great contrast, I really love the shot overall, but one thing niggles me. I find the negative space is a little overpowering, I would possibly crop about 1/5 off, keeping the image square. This would also place the iguana's head slightly off-centre, which is also currently bothering me a little.
Just personal musings really, it is a good shot as is, and others will probably disagree with my little niggles. :)

Thank you for your comment.. but we all have our own interpretation on a things this is mine.. its what makes the difference between those of us who are good and those who are bad out there!.. I think long and hard before submitting any image and in the above example the empty space was intentional, but your comments are noted and appreciated.:peace:

Fair enough, art is interpretive as you say. That's what makes it so interesting. :)

Thank you so much for your nice words... this was an image I took some time ago at Chester Zoo behind glass and have played about with, I was very happy with the eventual outcome Cheers. :hear::peace:
